JOAD National Target Championships 2003  Day 1

These pictures are from before the shooting, and then the leader boards AFTER the day's two distances. These were the two closest distances, and all scores on the leader boards are UNOFFICIAL. I am attempting to capture all the great t-shirt logos at the event.

NOTICE: These leader board scores are NOT OFFICIAL.  They are from AFTER the second of the two shorter distances from the first day of competition.   In many cases you will have to discern the division by knowing the names of the archers, since the boards did not show such close enough to allow inclusion in the photos.  I heard more than one leader board controller remark about how bad the archers were at writing consistent numbers down (as in showing more than 60 points between each pair of ends, a technical impossibility).  So these are merely indicators in a general sense.  The grousing was, as usual, more pronounced on the male end of the field - why is it that the young ladies can add well, but the males cannot ?

Of note is the Junior Male Recurve leader, Dane Peterson, who shot a score that would place him in 5th position in the COMPOUND division.  30 points ahead of his nearest recurve competitor is a pretty good day for any archer.

Also, Marie Pier Beaudet of Canada leads the field  in the Female Junior Recurve division.  Of note (since her dad is the author and webmaster) is Lindsey Carmichael, recovering much of her form for the first time since last summer after double femur reconstruction, coming in at 7th place on the board.  Go, Lindsey!   So much for objective, neutral reporting, eh?

A number of Texans can be found on the boards at the end of day one, including the already mentioned (ahem) Lindsey Carmichael, along with Holly Heinsohn, Megan Lesak, Cassie and Tammy Raffaeli, Jake Wisenheimer (5th in a VERY competitive Male Junior Recurve division), Coral McMinn, Sage Adams, Simone Petrosky & Amanda Wiley(tied), Kenny Holcomb, Tyler Janota.  GO TEXANS!
